Busy Beans

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

I’m trying to get on the blogging band wagon again. I’ve recently discovered Twitter and am actually liking it quite a bit. It’s kinda like blogging lite. No large commitment, quick snippets from (im, sms, email, widgets, or web) It’s kinda fun, and I’ve found a way to plug them into my blog.

You can find my twitter feed here http://twitter.com/binarynomad

In other news, I’ve been trying to cook more at home, tonight I experimented with a can of beans and ended up with this:

Ingredients

  • black beans (1 can, 1/2 juice replaced with water)
  • sausage (1-2, chopped)
  • onion (1/2, red, chopped)
  • garlic (4-5 cloves, chopped)
  • jalapeno (1, deseeded, sliced)
  • olive oil (a few tbs)
  • butter (1 pad, chopped)
  • salt and spices
  • red wine
  • rice (2 cups, cooked)

Steps

  1. Heat the (oil) over (medium) in a pot.
  2. Toss in the (sausage), brown it a bit (5 min).
  3. Toss in the (onion), (garlic), and 1/2 the (jalapeno), cook till translucent.
  4. Pour in a splash of (red wine), cook for a few more min.
  5. Toss in the (beans), (jalapeno), and (butter), add water if needed.
  6. Simmer for (2 hours), add (salt) and (spices) to taste, maybe another splash of (wine).
  7. Serve over rice.

It really turned out great, warms the insides and has that home comfort food feeling.

I’m heading off to breakfast tomorrow with Si, may check up on Morgan (she caught the cold that has been going around) and then Bob in the afternoon (who just got over the cold).

Working on it…

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

For those that have noticed, the gallery plugin has stopped working since the upgrade to the latest version. My initial searches have yielded nothing so far, but obviously something has broken. And so, I continue my quest. (read: Photos should be back soon, barring any extra procrastination.)

One day and counting…

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

Wow, my BM2007 trip starts in about 24h. That’s when we drive down to SLO to get our RV, trek back upto the Bay Area, pack all our stuff, and then over into the Nevada desert for a week to live the “leave no trace” lifestyle. I cannot tell you how excited about everything. I’m hoping to have tons of pics for everyone to enjoy.

(I’m also glad all the planning AND spending will finally be over)

As you can see, I’m getting into the spirit of it already:

I Am So Sore…

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

OMG, I cannot tell you how sore I am right now. I just got home from Tiesto’s “Elements Of Life” concert. Let me tell you that techno dancing for 4 hours straight (without a break) can really lay you down. I’m sore, (was) soaking wet (took a quick shower), and can bearly hear a thing. And you know something, I’d do it again in a heartbeat!! 🙂 I had so much fun going to that concert, it makes me want to check out the rave scene here in the Bay Area. I’d always had an interest (especially after watching the movie “Groove”), unfortunately my fear of dancing kept me away for quite a while, but since Morgan got me going to some clubs and having fun, I’m starting to jump in feet first. 🙂

Earlier today I attended Jefferson and Alex’s wedding, which was really beautiful. It was held at Sanborn Park in Saratoga, and I got to see lots of friends I haven’t seen in a while.

I’ll have pictures up from both events by the end of the week.
