The Time Fountain

August 9th, 2006

Something I just came across that struck me as an absolutely beautiful example of using technology to make art: The Time Fountain be sure to watch the video, it is amazing!

It’s projects like this that give me the creation itch (especially considering how much l love time lapse and long exposure photography).

Cars…

July 18th, 2006

I just saw Pixar’s “Cars” and it was a great movie. I originally didn’t think I was going to find it that entertaining (too many of those Chevron car commercials) but decided to give in after hearing a number of rave reviews about it. The characters loveable, a good plot and keeps you interested, and the only negative was that it seems to get a little slow in the middle (but that passes pretty quickly). If you haven’t seen it yet, give it a shot.

As with most Pixar’s movies, you get a nice mini-cartoon in the beginning, and lots of fun clips during the credits.

On a last note, one of the previews I saw was for “Ratatouille“, which looks hilarious (can’t wait for it).

More artistic goodness…

I’ve always found it amazing how people can take the most simple supplies and create stunning works of art. This artist only works with a (bic like) pen and A4 paper to create these wonderful cartoon pieces:

Avast Ye

July 14th, 2006

Wow, I just got to see [Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Mans Chest][1], and it was a great followup to the original movie, almost picking up a month or two after the previous movie. They kept the life of the characters, introduced a few new ones, (I really liked Davy Jones and his legend), and kept you intrested through out the movie.

This next section has spoilers, so it is hidden behind a “More” button. If you haven’t seen the movie, don’t continue.

Some people have been gifted with an almost inhuman creative ability, this street (chalk) artist is one of them:

404 Humor

June 30th, 2006

Never have I spent so much time reading a “404 – page not found” error page. Check out “http://www.imakeprojects.com”, they have one of the most entertaining errors I’ve seen in a while. (you just have to enter any “invalid” page for this website … I’ve provided a link for ease of use)

(UPDATE: Unfortunately the site was just moved (June 29th) to a new provider that does not have the same 404 Error, it is now a very basic text message.)

Tidbit of the day

I was making my way through an article on food, and discovered this cute snippet: “… in Argentina, a vegetarian is something you eat.”

Iris’s Whirlwind Tour (Home Again Home Again Jiggity Jig)

June 28th, 2006

So my friend Iris decided it was time to take a vacation and it just so happened she knew someone (me) living in Australia, so she decided to fly out and see how things were down-under. I’ve been holding off doing some exploring because I knew I had friends visiting while I was over here and it’s a lot more fun sharing experiences.

For sanity’s sake, I am chopping this up into four separate posts:

  1. [Welcome To The Gold Coast][101]
  2. [Climbing Sydney][102]
  3. [Swimming Through The Forest][103]
  4. [Home Again Home Again Jiggity Jig][104]

Warning, these are long posts, but I have included photos 🙂 click the “Read the rest of this entry” to venture forth…
