Enrollment Confirmation

Saturday, October 9th, 2004

I just got confirmation of my enrollment to the Berkeley “Unix Administration Certificate Program”.

Wish me luck, the courses will span about 1 year, but could take longer if any are cancled due to “lack of head count”. Last year I had 3 classes dropped on me becuase there were not enough enrollees. 🙁

Shicas Birthday

Sunday, October 3rd, 2004

Tonight we all met up at Chevys for Shicas’s birthday. We all had a good time, got the Chevys crew to sing for her, but we missed Renee. She didn’t have much of a choice cuz she was pretty occupied moving into her new home in Ohio. 🙁 Iris had a cantaloupe margarita as a proxy for her 🙂

Starting up…

Thursday, September 30th, 2004

Ok, so here I am, hoping to get this blog up and running. So far so good, I’ve gotten most of the links setup, the categories, etc. I really wish this system allowed for more control on permissions on posts/groups/etc. Right now I’m trying to choose between a few different WordPress blog styles. The candidates are:

  • Human condition
  • Deviant
  • Jaws
  • Silver is the new black
  • Blue

If you want to see them, you can find all the WordPress styles/themes here: * http://www.alexking.org/index.php?content=software/wordpress/styles.php

Hang Gliding

Saturday, September 25th, 2004

So this weekend some friends and I took hang gliding lessions. It was a surprise present for Bryan and we were all invited to join. We had a blast, but we wish we had more time to practice. We had to share the hill with parasailing group that arrived shortly after us. Then by noon, there were less head-winds and more cross-winds.

We all packed up and then decided to head out to Santa Cruz to check out the tattoo artist that Marlyn & Kristen will be using in about 2-3 weeks. When we got there she wasn’t in, so we wandered around, grabbed some coffee and then headed over to the beach. It had been a while since I’d been by an ocean that wasn’t GREY, or BROWN. (I hate the bay area water coughtoxicsludge) It was fun running around and climbing along the shore.
