After reading an interesting article on the perception of surveillance around the world and in Art, I can across these two great tidbits:

“Live” the Movie: There is an independent movie that is based solely upon footage from surveillance cameras (that I want to see):

“ACCESS” the Art Project: There is an art project setup (and on tour) in Germany at the Center for Art and Media, were, via the internet, you get to “…track anonymous individuals in public places, by pursuing them with a robotic spotlight and acoustic beam system.” At first, I thought the link was to a recorded movie example, but no, it was a live control system that you could play with. Since it is in Germany, you have to accommodate their business hours to play with the system (but try it out, it is a blast):

Infinite Art

I just came across a creative piece of collabrative art. While it does recycle after a bit, it is still amazing to witness the detail and amount of work put into it. (I’d think it would make an awesome screen saver)

The Time Fountain

Something I just came across that struck me as an absolutely beautiful example of using technology to make art: The Time Fountain be sure to watch the video, it is amazing!

It’s projects like this that give me the creation itch (especially considering how much l love time lapse and long exposure photography).

I’ve always found it amazing how people can take the most simple supplies and create stunning works of art. This artist only works with a (bic like) pen and A4 paper to create these wonderful cartoon pieces:

SCIFI Background Prints

I was passing by a co-workers cube today when I noticed a really beautiful scifi landscape set as his background. When asked about it, he pointed me to two web sites that he likes to frequent for that type of artwork. In trade, I pointed him to one of my favorite services, Digital Blasphemy.

I saw a poster while walking to work that had a beautiful night shot of San Francisco. The poster had a bunch of those pull off tags with information so I grabbed one thinking, if anything, I might find a good Christmas present for someone. Unfortunately, I never got around to checking it until the new year.

I like the style of their photographs. I’ve always been interested in night time and timelapse shooting, something I’m hoping to do more of this year myself.
